For the past 32 years our family owned bakery ETHOS has been GOOD FOOD AT A REASONABLE PRICE. As we produce in volume this obviously keeps the cost down, however this should never affect the quality of the product.
All our pies are handmade, using quality ingredients – diced lean beef, 95% visually lean mince, fresh diced onions, salt and pepper. There are no additives in our pies as we believe in producing the kind of product you would have been able to buy in bakeries back in the seventies and eighties, when baking was a craft and not just a job.
We are a SCRATCH BAKERY so called because we bake everything from scratch. We make our own pastry, fillings for our pies, sausage meat filling, dough, icing, mock cream, caramel.

Many mass produced pies seems to have the same thick stodgy pastry and limited flavours.
I have strived to ensure that this has not and will not happen at Countrylane Bakehouse.
I think after 30 plus years and overseeing the production of 20 million pies I think I know what a good pie should be.
